I have owned and evaluated “dot” type sights since they were introduced to the general marketplace a few decades ago. My first was the Bushnell Holosight, revolutionary at the time for its heads-up display. It was also heavy, bulky and ate batteries. It was but the first however of a new breed of electronic sights that have improved greatly over the years.

This new Tru-Tec 20mm Red-Dot Sight from Truglo is one that got my attention as much as that first Holosight did many years ago.

First of all, it's really small and light but even so just looks sturdy. That's a hard combination to achieve but somehow, it does it. The lines are clean and controls are forthright and easily accessed. It comes with 2 mounting bases that should meet any need and the battery is said to last for thousands of hours. It's even programmable so that you can decide how long you want it run before it automatically shuts off.

Forget to turn it on, just a slight tap will do the job or it can detect movement and do it for you. This sight has really entered the “smart” world but remains very simple to operate. Quite an accomplishment in such a compact package.

Truglo has a real winner in this one and the suggested retail price of just over $200.00 makes it very competitive with other high quality electronic sights.
