“What’s the best gun belt for my every day carry gun?” That’s a pretty common question from my readers. So, several months ago I set out to answer that question. I looked online for gun belts and I also visited several stores to see what they had to offer. The goal was to find a belt that I would be able to recommend to my readers.
I should say that I had just become accustomed to the problems with the belts I'd been wearing. They sagged from being stretched and I found myself adjusting my holster several times during the day. I think that happens a lot to many folks who carry. We just get used to what we have.
I wanted to take some time, examine the belts, wear them as ordinary belts and then as true gun belts with a gun in a holster. I looked for belts that could be worn with jeans, casual pants and dress pants. A good belt represents a substantial investment and I wanted to find one that could be worn for all occasions.
I put together a pretty good group of belts. All claimed to be able to hold your holster firmly in place and to resist sagging. If you try this search you may be very surprised by the number of gun belts out there. I spent literally hours researching various brands and becoming acquainted with the some of features of quality belts.
I tested only belts manufactured in the USA using materials that were sourced from this country as well.
I never realized how long this evaluation would take in order to give a fair time to evaluate each belt As I began the evaluation, some belts were eliminated pretty quickly. They looked good and they felt fine when I wore them strictly as a belt but they did not hold up to the weight of a holstered handgun. They sagged, they stretched and they became very uncomfortable. Eventually, I narrowed the search to three top quality gun belts.
Interestingly enough, they represent three different schools of thought about gun belt construction. I will talk about that more as I discuss each of the belts. So let’s get right to it.
I selected the Brown Classic Gun Belt with the standard Nickel buckle. First class in every respect. My examination was thorough and extensive and every part was as well done as any belt that I have seen at any price.
"These belts are made utilizing American tanned Herman Oak top grain cowhide, a ¾” woven nylon webbing strap in the middle, and a backer of premium hard rolled leather. These layers are stitched cross grain creating a strong sturdy carry belt. Each belt has recessed stitching and is hand buffed, burnished, and treated. The belts will be approximately ¼” thick resulting in a strong belt with superior support for your carry needs, while still offering flexibility for comfortable every day wear."
I wore the belt for a couple of weeks as a normal belt and then added a holstered gun for a couple more. It molded to my body quickly but with no sagging or stretching after weeks of concealed carry.
A great belt in all respects and fairly priced at $59.50.
This company includes a lot of humor in describing their products and that reflects the confidence that they have in their products. That confidence is well deserved. My belt is a beautiful shade of deep dark brown and lives up to its description on their site. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the belt molded to my body, steel core and all.
"The 14oz Leather with Steel Core delivers optimal support and strength to your open or concealed carry firearm. With a double layer of rich English Bridle leather and an ultra-durable spring-steel core embedded between both layers, your gun belt will never sag under the weight of even the heaviest carry. These legendary gun belts all come in the standard 1.5 inch width; this patent pending, steel-reinforced gun belt option is approximately .219” thick."
This belt proved to be very comfortable when worn with everything from jeans, shorts and dress pants.
Again, another great belt and very reasonably priced at $59.88.
I selected the Ultimate Concealed Carry leather gun belt in brown, with stainless steel buckle and fasteners.
The "purist", as tested, in this final group of three. This was the only belt in the final group that I tested that did not have some type of non-leather lining. Relentless does however make a steel core belt.
"If you have ever carried a gun on a holster you know that the average department store belt just doesn't cut it. That is why we designed this belt especially for the sportsman looking to exercise their Second Amendment rights. Handmade in the USA of 14 ounce Premium Full Grain US Leather this gun belt is 100% Guaranteed to never split or we will replace it! Available in multiple colors and sizes for every gun owner, this belt makes a great gift. Even if you aren't carrying, you will notice the difference when you are wearing a Handmade Leather Belt."
Like the other belts, I wore this one for about two weeks just as an ordinary belt and then as a gun belt with a holstered handgun. This belt had a very quick break-in. And was quite comfortable to wear from day one. After wearing this belt extensively with a holstered handgun I have not seen any sagging or stretching with it. This belt is currently on sale for $59.99.

Please note that I have placed a link beneath each review so that you can read additional information about each of these products.
When all was said and done I could not pick a favorite. The good news is these are great belts and you could not go wrong with any one of them. Be certain to read sizing instructions from each maker. They are not all the same.
Lastly, throughout the review time I had occasion to contact the customer service department of each of these three companies. Each representative was friendly and answered many questions that I had about belt construction. Service before and after the sale means a lot to me.
I hope you find this article to be informative and helpful.
