NWTF Receives $250,000 Donation from Bass Pro Shops

BASS PRO JOHNNY MORRIS ROB KECK

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — Bass Pro Shops Director of Conservation Rob Keck stopped by National Wild Turkey Federation headquarters Wednesday to deliver a $250,000 donation from Bass Pro Shops and its founder and CEO Johnny Morris to help the NWTF continue its efforts to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.

"On behalf of Johnny, whose heart has been with this organization for so many years, we just want to say thanks to the NWTF for what the organization has done through the conservation leadership it provides as well as the restoration of the wild turkey," Keck said. "It certainly has created a huge impact on this country."

The donation completes Morris' $1 million pledge to the NWTF. Becky Humphries, NWTF CEO, accepted the donation on behalf of NWTF's staff and volunteers and expressed her gratitude for the generous contribution.

"Many thanks to Johnny, Bass Pro Shops and Rob for continuing their unending support of conservation work across the country," Humphries said. "Bass Pro Shops' culture of promoting habitat and wildlife conservation is something that all outdoor companies can aspire to emulate."

Morris is the NWTF's all-time highest donor. In addition, Morris' Bass Pro Shops contributes to the NWTF through its promotional card program—each NWTF member receives a $25 Bass Pro Shops promotion card when signing up or renewing online.

Morris also encourages Bass Pro Shops customers to support the NWTF mission through roundup months at all Bass Pro locations. Customers can opt to round their final purchase amount up to the nearest dollar. These donations, paired with Bass Pro Shops matching 50 percent of the total, directly benefit the NWTF, helping put boots on the ground for habitat work and increasing hunter recruitment efforts.

About the National Wild Turkey Federation
When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights. The NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative is a charge that mobilizes science, fundraising and devoted volunteers to raise $1.2 billion to conserve and enhance more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruit at least 1.5 million hunters and open access to 500,000 acres for hunting.
