After 20 years, the Model 19 returns to the Smith catalog.
The Smith & Wesson Classics series of revolvers have been enhanced with modern internal components, but mimic the look and feel of classic models. The Model 19 Classic revolver features a handsome set of walnut grips, a 4.25″ barrel, a black adjustable rear sight, and red ramp front sight. The revolver dons a highly polished, blued finish and traditional thumbpiece for a classic look.
I grew up with revolvers always present. My Dad carried a 4" Smith & Wesson .38 special in a Sam Brown rig while on duty and usually tucked under his belt otherwise. My Dad and my older brothers all shot that gun for practice and recreation. It was just part of life back then.
I've always loved the S&W "Classic" revolvers, though I did not realize they were classics back then.
When you ask about our daily carry guns today, you'll probably find few who carry any kind of revolver, especially among newer shooters. The reintroduction of some of the classics may introduce a whole generation to revolvers. Let's hope that's exactly what happens. There's always room for one more gun in the safe!
