12 Gauge Gun Cleaning Products
12ga Bore-tips are tough, reusable foam tips engineered for 100% bore contact; spreading fluids more evenly than mops and patches without lint or fibers. Their non-abrasive foam allows them to be run in both directions, while their absorbency requires less solvent/lubricant. Washable and reusable, they affix to a standard shotgun rod with 5/16-27 threading. For those with a .30 caliber rifle, the 12ga is also a perfectly sized chamber brush.
Several months ago I received some packages of Swab-its in the then new .357/.38/9mm version and several others. Frankly, it was a busy time so that package lay on my work bench for some time. One evening I had several pistols to clean, as well as a recent acquired revolver. I happened to glance at the Swab-its package and decided to give them a try.
I use a lot of PrOlix CLP Hyskore Degreezer https://allaboutshooting.com/blogs/blog/tagged/hyskore for cleaning and after removing the grips from a S&W Model 10, dropped it in to soak for a while. While I was waiting, I used the Swab-its to scrub chambers and bores of several pistols, as well as clean slides and frames.
I'm not sure what I was expecting, maybe the performance of a cotton swab but these thing really work and they hold up to use.
When it came time to remove that Model 10 from the Degreezer, I let it drain just a bit and then use the Swab-its to scrub the cylinders, chamber, bore and "internals" of the gun. Again, it held up, did the job well and after drying out, was ready for more.
Since that time, I don't think I've cleaned any gun without using a Swab-its. It just one of those little products that does a lot and takes the place of several others. They are also very reasonably priced.
